GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Gainesville, Fla. attorney and CPA Linda McGurn was named chair of the University of Florida Foundation, Inc. board of directors at the organization’s spring meeting held March 8. She will serve a two-year term in that position.

McGurn succeeds Jerry Davis of Jacksonville, Fla. to the office of chair. Davis has been a member of the UF Foundation board since 1997.

“The success of fundraising by the UF Foundation comes in a large part from the inspired leadership of our board of directors,” said Paul Robell, UF vice president for development and alumni affairs. “We are fortunate to have Jerry and Linda as two such leaders, especially during this critical period in UF’s history.”

McGurn has served as vice chair of the UF Foundation board for the previous two years, and chaired the UF Foundation Audit Committee from 2001 to 2006. She has been a member of the UF Foundation board since 1999.

McGurn earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a law degree, both from UF. She and her husband, Ken McGurn, have been instrumental in the redevelopment of downtown Gainesville.

The University of Florida Foundation, Inc. administers all private gift fundraising for the University of Florida and is currently conducting a capital campaign, themed Florida Tomorrow, with a goal of raising $1.5 billion by 2012.
