President's Message

The University of Florida is an extraordinary institution. We understand the potential impact of everything we do, and we take seriously the responsibility inherent in that understanding. We’ve invested resources to bring truly outstanding faculty members here, people who believe Florida is the place where they can do their life’s work. Our talented undergraduate and graduate students share in dynamic academic and cocurricular experiences that instill in them not only a real love for their alma mater but also a passion to make their mark on their professions and on society. We’ve made truly exceptional advances in so many fields of study, and we have contributed to our economy, our world and its people in countless ways. We have planned well. And we have the capacity to do so much more.

As a land-grant institution, we’ve been given a mandate to serve our state. And as one of the largest and most comprehensive institutions in the country, we have the potential to take this mandate to a new level by solving some of the world’s greatest problems related to health, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, the aging population. We are already working on solving the puzzles and answering the questions. With private support, there is no limit to what we can accomplish today, or what our students will accomplish when we pass the torch to them.

Florida Tomorrow: The Campaign for the University of Florida is about building the resources that will help us make the future a better place, a better day, for people everywhere. Florida Tomorrow, as I see it, is a belief that together we can shape a world where future generations will thrive.
